ABOUT RACHEL
Welcome, and thank you for stopping by my page!
Iām Rachel Ori. I'm a graduate of Iowa State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science - B.S., in public relations with minors in political science and speech communication.
I spent the beginning of my professional career working in the non-profit industry. Upon graduation, I dove into a six-month internship at Disability Rights Iowa. Following that endeavor, I became a Development & Communications Associate at Vote Smart, a national non-partisan political information center. A few months later, I was offered the opportunity to expand my role and become the organization's public relations specialist. After my time at Vote Smart, I began work at Two Rivers Marketing in April 2021, where I was a Strategic Communications Specialist. I was one of the primary content writers for an international heavy construction company, writing feature articles, blog posts, news releases, social media copy, and much more. It wasn't long before I was called back to my non-profit roots. In 2022, I began my role as a Media Relations & Content Specialist for the Greater Des Moines Partnership. This role included writing news releases, email messaging, internal communication, and more.
From 2023 to 2025, I ran RCO Freelance Writing. During this time, I offered services in various areas, including social media management, copyediting, and written content needs, among others. RCO Freelance Writing is no longer operational as I pursue more education.
When I'm not working, you can find me drinking an embarrassing amount of coffee, catching up on anything pop culture-related, and finding new songs for my Apple Music playlists. Speaking of pop culture, I also run a blog titled Pop Talk With Rach, which focuses on film, television, and more.
