Welcome, and thank you for stopping by my page!

My name is Rachel Ori. I am a graduate of Iowa State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science - B.S., in Public Relations with minors in Political Science and Speech Communication.

I was born and raised in Iowa. Although I was raised in Ankeny, I currently reside in Downtown Des Moines.

I spent the beginning of my professional career working in the non-profit industry. Immediately out of college, I dove into a six month internship at Disability Rights Iowa. Following that endeavor, I signed on to become a Development & Communications Associate at Vote Smart, a national non-partisan political information center. A few months in, I was offered the opportunity to expand my role and became the organization's Public Relations Specialist. After my time at Vote Smart, I began work at Two Rivers Marketing in April 2021, where I was a Strategic Communications Specialist. I was one of the primary content writers for an international heavy construction company, where I wrote feature articles, blog posts, news releases, social media copy and much more. It wasn't long before I was called back to my non-profit roots. In 2022, I began my current role as Media Relations & Content Specialist for the Greater Des Moines Partnership. This role included writing news releases, email messaging, internal communication, newsletters and more. I also assisted with promoting dozens of events each quarter, a rewarding challenge.

In the summer of 2023, I took the leap and officially began working full-time on RCO Freelance Writing. A dream years in the making, I now offer my writing services to clients across the Greater Des Moines region. I'm incredibly excited to see where this endeavor takes me and am looking forward to taking on more clients as the years go on.

When I'm not working, you can find me drinking an embarrassing amount of coffee, catching up on anything pop culture related and finding new songs for my Apple Music playlists. Speaking of pop culture, I also run a blog titled Pop Talk With Rach, which focuses on film, television and more. Give it a read!
